Protobi AI Helper

Protobi AI Helper brings AI directly into your project, so you can ask questions in plain natural language, then get answers and apply the results.

To open the Protobi AI Helper, press the AI sparkle icon at the top of the page

You can use Protobi AI Helper to:

• Analyze data - Analyze selected elements and generate insights
• Extract survey text - Read survey questions, responses, and structure
• Autocode - Automatically code open-ended responses
• Process data - Generate or modify process code and data workflows
• Administer project - Manage users, permissions, and project settings
• General help - Answer general questions about the platform

Analyze data and summarize results

Protobi AI helper analyzes the selected element and highlights key patterns and findings in a clear, structured format.

The response can be expanded using “Show more”, which displays the full view, including all insights and details.

Copy, View, Apply

After each response, three action buttons appear below the AI output:

Copy - Copies the AI response text to your clipboard so you can paste it into another tool or document. **View ** - Opens a full-screen view of the response for easier reading. Apply - Creates a new element in the dashboard containing the AI results. You can edit, format, or reuse this content as needed.

Configure dashboard elements

Protobi AI helper customizes the selected element based on your request, allowing you to modify charts, layout, format, or visualization.

Use Apply button to update the selected element directly in the dashboard.

Extract survey text and responses

Protobi AI helper can also read your survey questionnaire and extracts question text, response options, sections, and formats. It organizes your dashboard according to your survey.

Process data

Protobi AI helper generates the logic to add new data waves, update tables, or transform data within your project.

Example tasks you can ask:

• How do I bring in a new wave of data?
• Write code to stack this wave with the prior wave
• Add a derived variable that flags respondents who selected option 3

Sources

After each response, the AI shows the Sources used to generate the answer. Expand the section to view referenced files, such as attached data or project documents.

Click any source to open it, verify the response, or explore the underlying data.

Temporary Files

When you attach an element or upload data, the AI stores it as a Temporary File for the current session. These files provide additional context for more accurate responses.

From the panel, you can see: Upload - use the file in the conversation Download - save it locally and upload into another tool Copy - copy to clipboard

Temporary files are cleared when you reset or close the conversation

Reset

Use Reset (top right) to start a fresh session.

Clears chat history Removes temporary files Resets the conversation

Administer project

You can ask the AI Helper to help you manage project access. Use the Administer project context and ask in plain language for example, "How do I add a view user to my project?"

AI Helper Contexts

Protobi AI Helper uses contexts to understand what task you want to perform. Each context changes how the AI interprets your question and what actions it can take. You select the context from the dropdown at the top of the AI Helper panel.
