## Recoding N/A Values If you need to change some values to N/A so that they can remove them from calculation of percentages or means, you can use the recoding tool to code values. Within the recoding tool, \[NA\] is used to represent the blank or #N/A values <img src="/uploads/upload/image/5200/direct/1569302076163-1569302076163.png" alt="Protobi recoding interface with two columns: 'Codes' on left showing blue '(New code)' button and white '[NA]' box with count '1', and 'Uncoded values' on right showing '(uncoded) 98' with search box and list of open-ended responses including 'good', 'interesting, should be easy to use', 'Good. Positive', and longer comments about elderly patients and medical devices. Gray 'Cancel' and blue 'Apply' buttons in top right" style="width: 480px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib fr-fil"> In JSON, it would be represented as "" (as in two double quotes representing blank values.). For example, if we want to code the value 99 to #N/A, you can do: ``` "reformat": { "99": "" } ``` See recoding tutorial for more details
