A really convenient feature of Protobi is that it automatically bins numeric variables into ranges, making it easy to see the data as histogram and crosstabs. You can choose the bin sizes, or whether to do it all. - **linear** — Specify the bin size (e.g. `10`) - **auto** — Enter `auto` to auto-round base on the standard deviation - **log** — Specify `log` to choose logarithmic ranges (in base 10) - **custom** — Enter an array of cut-points, e.g. `[10,25,50]` Try it! click the circle icon select "Round by..." from the context menu. **Example 1:** Linear ranges Here we set "Round by" to `auto` which in this case defaults to `10` <img src="/uploads/upload/image/5200/direct/1561560598282-numerics-linear.png" alt="Protobi chart for question "Q3" asking "What percent of your purchases are made online?" displaying linear binning with evenly-spaced 10-unit intervals: 1 to 10 (7.0%), 11 to 20 (14.4%), 21 to 30 (22.8%), 31 to 40 (18.8%), 41 to 50 (20.0%), 51 to 60 (8.6%), 61 to 70 (6.0%), 71 to 80 (2.2%), 81 to 90 (0.2%), with Mean of 34.7." style="width: 360px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib"> **Example 2:** Log Here we set "Round by" to `log` so bigger numbers get bigger ranges: <img src="/uploads/upload/image/5200/direct/1561560619606-numerics-log.png" alt="Protobi chart for question "Q3" showing the same online purchases question, now using logarithmic binning with progressively wider intervals: 2 to 4.9 (1.4%), 5 to 9.9 (4.8%), 10 to 24 (25.4%), 25 to 49 (49.6%), 50 to 99 (18.8%), with Mean of 34.7." style="width: 360px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib"> **Example 3:** Custom ranges Here we set "Round by" to `[10,25,50]` <img src="/uploads/upload/image/5200/direct/1561560661086-numerics-custom.png" alt="Protobi chart for question "Q3" showing the same question with custom binning: ≤ 10 (7.0%), 11 to 25 (27.2%), 26 to 50 (48.8%), > 50 (17.0%), with Mean of 34.7. The custom bins create four groups of varying widths tailored to the data distribution." style="width: 360px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib">
