When you open a Protobi project you see the interactive view. This tutorial is a summary of the app's main components and how they work. To view a demo project, check out the [Example Pharma Survey](https://app.protobi.com/v3/datasets/5a5fa2dd136a3a0004b461d0).

Protobi's interactive view is composed of:

-   **Tabs** (main groups) with each question appearing as an interactive element
-   A **tree** with all groups and elements organized into a compact view
-   A **toolbar** with buttons that adjust, save and export the data view

## Tabs

Questions are displayed as interactive elements on tabs. Each main group is its own tab. Create a new tab by pressing the "+" sign.

## Tree

Questions are organized into a tree on the left. The tree is convenient when moving and searching for elements.

In the tree you can:

-   Filter for an element in the search bar
-   Expand/collapse all the main groups
-   Press on the element icon (square) to expand/collapse groups individually
-   Double press on an element (name) to navigate to that question

### Move elements

You can change the location and order of questions by using the tree. Press the element, then drag + drop to the desired position. The [move or copy](/tracking-studies/move-mirror-clone "Go to tutorial") dialog will appear, choose "move."

You can move elements by dropping: 1) within the tree, or 2) from the tree into tabs.

1) Drag + drop elements within the tree:

-   Into a group (group will turn yellow)

-   Between elements (indicated by yellow line)

2) Drag + drop elements from the tree into tabs (see below)

We moved Q1 from Section 1 to Section 2 by dragging the element from the tree and dropping it into the white space of the tab. The element will be placed last in the group. Whereas, if you move within the tree you have the option to place the element between other questions.

**Note**: This doesn't work conversely (from tab to tree.)

## Toolbar

The toolbar houses some key Protobi functions. The default view of the toolbar is at the top of the page. Admins can change toolbar position in [project properties](/admin-access/project-properties). We've included a brief description of each button with links to other tutorials where applicable.

The global button saves persistent filters that can be applied to the entire project view (e.g. "Completes").

The N= button displays the current sample size. Press the button to see current filters.

Press the clear button to clear all current filters.

Press the set base button to set current filters as the baseline. See [Baseline](https://help.protobi.com/viewaccess/baseline#Set%20current%20filters%20as%20baseline-5).

Keyboard shortcut: b

Press the #/% button to toggle between counts and percentages. See [Toggle percents & counts](/videos/toggle-percentscounts-video).

Keyboard shortcut: p

Press the format button to toggle between raw and formatted values. To format raw values see [Format dialog](/edit-access/formatting).

Keyboard shortcut: f

Toggle to include blank/missing/skipped values in percentages. See [Blank, skipped, and missing values](/view-access/na-blank-missing-values).

Keyboard shortcut: m

Drag an element to the crosstab button to create a global crosstab. Press the crosstab button and a dropdown menu with the option to clear will appear. See [Crosstabs](https://help.protobi.com/viewaccess/crosstabs#Crosstab%20elements%20globally-1).

The scenarios button saves current current filters as named scenarios. See [Scenarios](/view-access/scenarios).

The export button gives you options to export selected elements to PowerPoint or Excel. See [Exporting data](/view-access/exporting-data).

The save button saves changes you have made to the project.
