Drag to crosstab one or many elements

Updated at January 6th, 2020

Create crosstabs in Protobi by dragging the title of one element on to another:

Crosstab elements individually

To create a crosstab you drag one element (e.g., q1) to the heading of another (e.g., q2). The element you drag will define the columns (or "banner"), and the other will define the rows (or "stub").

To clear the crosstab, drag q1 out of the crosstab, and q2 returns to a simple marginal distribution.

Taking a closer look, we see two elements, "Generally how would you say things are these day in your life" and "How would you rate your own health in general these days?" It's set up so that the happiness responses appear as a crosstab versus the health responses.

The grey and blue highlights significant differences from the overall marginal. The stats tests intelligently account for the fact that each column comprises a part of the overall marginal.

It is often effective to drag from the element tree on the left. You can use crosstab variables that are not on the same tab.

Crosstab elements globally

Drag an element title to the the "Crosstab"  button in the toolbar to define a global banner.  Any elements and charts that can take a banner variable will be crosstabbed.

To remove, press on the cross tab button, and select "clear."
